Doctor
Dr. Joel Beth Mitchell
|
Dr.Mitchell received a Bachelor of Science (Zoology) in 1988 and received her Doctorate in Veterinary medicine in 1993 both from the University of Florida. She then completed a thirteen month internship specializing in small animal medicine and surgery at the world renowned Animal Medical Center and Bobst Hospital in New York City in July 1994.
Dr. Mitchell joined the Aventura Animal Hospital in August of 1994. Her special interests include pain management, oncology, dermatology, mammalian exotics, feline and canine internal medicine and soft tissue surgery.
Dr. Mitchell enjoys traveling with her husband and daughter Pearl who was born in August of 2006. She also enjoys walking on the beach with Madison her West Highland Terrier and Winston her Jack Russell Terrier.

Dr. Emily Lamm
Dr. Lamm received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from North Carolina State University in 2000 and a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Georgia in 2005. She completed a 13 month internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Coral Springs Animal Hospital in July 2006 where she worked with specialists in Internal Medicine, Oncology, Cardiology, Surgery, Dermatology and General Practice.
Dr. Lamm enjoys spending time with her orange cat Oliver, traveling, wakeboarding and water skiing.

Dr. Jeanette Basto
Dr. Basto received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Florida International University in 1996, and a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Florida in 2003. She completed advanced training from the Chi Institute in 2004 and is a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist.
Dr. Basto has a special interest in avian and exotic medicine, soft tissue surgery and client education. She enjoys practicing acupuncture in an effort to provide an additional form of treatment to her patients. Dr. Basto was raised in Miami and is fluent in Spanish.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, James. The both of them love to cook, eat sushi (self-proclaimed connoisseurs) and spend time with their family and friends. Their family includes 2 dogs, Apollo and Angel and 3 cats, Lily, Kitty Miu and Tipsy.

Leah Tibbals |
Dr. Tibbals received her Bachelors of Science Degree in Environmental Biology from Plymouth State University NH, in 1998 and received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from St. George’s University, Grenada in 2007.
Dr. Tibbals has been practicing emergency and general medicine in the Miami area sense graduation and is pleased to have joined the Aventura Animal Hospital in November of 2008. Her interests include internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, oncology, dermatology, and exotics.
She is from New England and is enjoying the warm climate Miami has to offer. She has a 10 yr old black lab named “Cachie poo” and a 2 yr old domestic short hair cat named “Shorty Hot Pants”. She enjoys taking her dog to the park, hiking, traveling, volunteering and any activity involving the ocean.

Christine , Practice Manager

Christine has been involved in the animal medical field since 1989. Christine began at Aventura Animal Hospital as a Veterinary Technician in February 1999. She was promoted to the management position in September 2005.
Animals are Christine's passion and she has two of her own. Charley, a Lab mix and Ringo, a Weimaraner. Both dogs were rescues in need of a caring home. Christine spends time enjoying life with her family and the Florida sunshine.

James moved from Alabama to Florida when he was five years old. He brings seven years of experience working with animals to the Aventura Team. He is retired from the US Army, and enjoys his new post, as Kennel Supervisor, with us here at Aventura Animal Hospital.

Kimberly
Kimberly V. Anderson-Blencowe was born in the Republic of Panama where she grew up and graduated from High School. She subsequently went to Oakwood College in Huntsville, Alabama where she majored in Biology and Environmental Sciences.
Kimberly has always loved animals and been interested in their welfare from a very young age. After college she moved to Baltimore where she worked in the ecological field for a while, and since the year 2000 has been working in the field of Veterinary Medicine. She decided she was not shoveling anymore snow and left the Animal Welfare Society of Howard County, Maryland, where she was surgical technician and pet adoption counselor, and moved to Florida.
Kimberly is the proud owner of two dogs - Luna and Soleil and one fat, happy cat named Ling. |

Jessica
Jessica grew up in Sunny Side Miami. Her love and passion for animals led her to join the Aventura Animal Hospital team in 2005 as a Veterinary Technician Assistant. When she is not working, she enjoys going to the movies, playing video games, and practicing her artistic sketching skills for costume design for video games and movies. She spends most of her time with her dog PeeWee who has a personality you wouldn’t believe. |

Justine joined our Aventura team on February 2008. She brings with her over 7 year’ experience in the veterinary field. She rescued two German Shepherds; Meisha and Oso from Broward County Animal Control, along with two cats; Missy and Lucky. When she’s not working with animals and playing with her pets, Justine enjoys traveling and spending time outdoors. Justine was raised in South Florida and currently attends Florida International University. In the future, she plans to pursue her studies at the University of Florida to become a veterinarian. |

Jovany was born in Miami in 1986. He graduated high school at the age of 17 and currently studies Aviation and Web Design. Since he was young, Jovany was always surrounded by animals. He now has a total of 10 pets; 1 dog and 9 cats. He loves working with animals and taking good care of them. He takes great pride in watching our hospitalized pets as if they were his own. Cristina

Cristina joined Aventura Animal Hospital in March 2007. She is currently persuing a bachelors degree in business administration at F.I.U. Biscayne Bay campus. Cristina is the proud owner of a teacup chihuahua named Sophia, and a German import show line German Sheperd named Bruce. When Cristina is not stuck in the library behind a pile of books, you can usually find her outdoors running, hiking, kayaking, or just taking a stroll with her dogs.
Her hobbies include scrap booking, 18th century literature, and philosophy.

Stephanie Stephanie joined our staff in July 2006. She has always enjoyed working with animals. In Middle School she was President of the JFK Chapter of the Future Farmers of America (FFA). Stephanie currently attends college to one day become a Medical Doctor in Anesthetics. She has 3 pets, two dogs and a cat. When Stephanie is not at work she enjoys traveling and being adventurous. |

Kerry is a great Kennel Technician at the Aventura Animal Hospital. Though he joined our team in June 2007, Kerry has been around animals all of his life. He has three dogs of his own: K-zoe, a bull-terrier mix, Kujo; a rottweiler mix, and Shamu; a terrier. He adopted all three members of his canine family from local rescue centers. Kerry was born and raised in Miami, Florida. He likes to spend his free time with friends at the mall, riding dirt-bikes, and going to the movies. Kerry hopes to one day own a business and start a family. |

Arielle has been working with animals since she was just 12 years old. She loves working at the Aventura Animal Hospital & Pet Resort and being around animals all the time. She first began working at our facility in early 2006 and rejoined our team of professionals in 2008. Arielle has a little dog of her own, Chester, who she loves very much.
